Graphic Nude

This is the only life drawing that I ever did during my seven months at art school with which I was happy.

Graphic Nude by Andy Slater

It is approximately 30cm square, is done in pencil on cartridge paper, and on this occasion I decided to abandon all attempts to render a lifelike image and chose instead to produce a more graphical representation of the subject.

I have always been intrigued by the kind of thing that H.R.Giger (the guy who did the designs for the film Alien) calls biomechanics and although this sketch does not delve into it nearly so deeply as Gigers work, there is an element of it.

This is a direction which I would like to explore further and I am sure that it is only a matter of time before I do so.
